Tony Hoare Chair of Governors
Tony is a Foundation Governor and has been Chair of the FGB for the past three years, during which time we've consolidated our new Academy status and appointed a new Head and Deputy. I also chair the Governors' Leadership and Management, and Pay Committees, and am a regular member of two others. My close acquaintance with the School goes back much longer than all of this though - my two children were here in the 1980s and enjoyed an excellent education in a friendly, caring environment, the same that we try to provide today.
Beyond the School I've now retired from my full-time academic post at the University of Bristol but retain some part-time lecturing activities, and remain its Director of Research as part of its widening participation agenda, thereby supporting its policies and practices to diversity the social mix of its student composition.
My main leisure activities in the time left over involve the pleasures and privileges of helping look after a growing clutch of grandchildren, hitting golf balls straighter, and growing ever-bigger courgettes (and other things) on the allotment.
