Our Core Values - Westbury Ways
Striving for Excellence, enriching our Faith, cherishing our Community
We want every member of our school family, no matter what their background, to look to the horizon for possibilities of what can be achieved for themselves and those around them. With them all working together with a desire to succeed and reach their true potential, their behaviour and attitude will create an environment where excellence is expected and realised, for all. With that in mind, the School will be able to offer the very best education, support and guidance to every pupil in our care.
Within the Christian ethos of our school, we want every child and adult in our school to have faith in themselves and what they can achieve. We hope they have confidence and trust in others within our community to guide, support and nurture them on their journey through school. We hope that all members of our community have a sense of God’s belief and love for them, as individuals. As a school we affirm their gifts, skills and talents and will nurture these with love and care.
Westbury-on-Trym CE Academy is a thriving school family where everyone understands their roles, responsibilities and feels that their contributions are noticed, valued and important to the success of the whole community. By learning, playing and working together, the community becomes stronger and unified in its shared sense of purpose. Everyone within and associated with our school family should have strong feelings of belonging as well as an identity as a result of being part of it. We also want to be an ‘outward facing’ community which looks to share its purpose, identity and beliefs with others. Through this exchange and opening of our doors, we welcome the contributions of others in developing a wider community, be it local, global or virtual.
Our school vision is rooted in John 10:10, when Jesus said to his disciples “I have come so that they may have life, and live it to the full”. Jesus wanted his people to have access to the abundant joy of life through knowing and following him. We believe that through upholding the values and teaching of Jesus in Westbury, we can lead our children towards a ‘life in all its fullness’. We follow a two-year cycle of Christian values and guide the children to reflect on ways they can carry this value out in their own lives. Please follow the link below to read our value cycle.
