Me, Myself, I exhibition
Students from Year 6 visited the Me, Myself, I exhibition at the prestigious Royal West Of England Art Gallery in Bristol and chose one portrait to respond to through the medium of poetry. The aim of the exhibition was to challenge perceptions about what constitutes a self portrait from both the artist's and viewer's perspective. Some of our pupils work was then chosen by the RWA to accompany the exhibition and one member of the public who viewed it was so impressed that they emailed us to say "The interpretation by the children of the emotion and meaning behind the artists self-portraits was fantastic and far beyond what I would have expected of 11 year olds. It challenged me about how we underestimate the emotional intelligence and capability of our children."
