Remote Education
Westbury-on-Trym Church of England Academy provides remote education only in exceptional circumstances, where it has been agreed in advance that provision is appropriate.
Remote education will not routinely be provided for short-term absence, including illness. Parents and carers are expected to follow the school’s attendance procedures and ensure that pupils attend school wherever possible.
In exceptional cases where remote education is agreed, it will be planned to support pupils in continuing their learning. This will follow the same curriculum as in school, enabling pupils to build on prior learning and continue to make progress.
Learning will be delivered through the school’s established platforms and will include structured activities set by teachers, allowing pupils to access clear instructions and maintain continuity in their learning.
Pupils are expected to engage with the work provided and complete tasks to the best of their ability.
Support will be considered on an individual basis, including adaptations for pupils with SEND and alternative arrangements where access to technology is limited.
The school will communicate clearly with parents and carers where remote education is in place, including how to access learning and the expectations for pupils.
